Airport Highlight: University-Oxford Airport

Nestled in the quiet hill country of North Mississippi lies a little town called Oxford, Mississippi. Home to Mississippi’s oldest university, the University of Mississippi, more affectionately known as Ole Miss, and famed author William Faulkner’s home, Rowan Oak, they are just a couple of many reasons to visit this lovely little town. We recommend traveling there by way of the University-Oxford Airport, owned by the University.

Located within minutes of the Ole Miss campus and the historic Oxford Square, University-Oxford Airport is convenient and offers a plethora of services and amenities to pilots and airport guests. All charters are welcome and supported. The airport offers a first-day fee waiver with a minimum fuel purchase of 50 gallons for Jet-A and 10 gallons for Avgas. Other services and amenities include:

  • $25 cable boost

  • $100 GPU

  • Complimentary courtesy vehicle (two-hour limit)

  • Free Wifi

  • Free tie-downs

  • Complimentary ice, coffee, and snacks (who doesn’t love snacks?)

  • Flight planning room

  • Complimentary football game day shuttle (shuttle runs all day and for two hours post-game)

  • Crew lounge

  • Large executive terminal

The airport also offers special rates for pilots at certain hotels in Oxford including the Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Towne Place Suites by Marriott, and the Gin Hotel and Spa. Note that rates are for pilots only and are not valid during gameday weekends. The airport is located near several Oxford accommodations including The Inn at Ole Miss.

The University-Oxford Airport charters most flights for Ole Miss. The university’s soccer, volleyball, basketball, and baseball games have brought many different aircraft to the airport. In 2017, a new apron was constructed to accommodate more traffic during football season. A new fuel depot has also been added along with new luggage belt loaders and ground power units. Nicholas Air recently moved its headquarters to Oxford and will soon base its entire aircraft fleet at University-Oxford airport.

As you can see, the University-Oxford Airport plays an important role in the town’s economy and tourism efforts. With the upcoming football season approaching, there is no better time than now to plan your trip to this beautiful, scenic town full of Southern charm.
