After northeast Mississippi high school students expressed interest in aviation careers, a Monroe County School’s career coach contacted the Monroe County Airport about having an Aviation Day. The education day was open to all Monroe County high school students interested in aviation careers.
Students learned about different types of airplanes and helicopters. Students also had the opportunity to have question and answer time with local pilots and ride in one of the helicopters on site.
After much success, Monroe County career coaches plan to make Aviation Day an annual event for their high school students.
According to US News and World Reports, career forecasts in aviation predict continued growth. With high salary options and lower job stress ratings, aviation careers should see an expanding job market.
