In late 2022, our team headed to Everts Air in Fairbanks, Alaska for a fabrication project. We had a wonderful time completing this project and learned some exciting things about Everts Air and Alaska! Read on to learn more about Everts Air's prolific history with specialty aircraft.
The History of Everts Air
In 1977, founder Robert W. Everts launched Tatonduk Flying Service with a single Cessna 180 aircraft to provide miners transportation to the more remote parts of Alaska. Since 1980, his father, Cliff Everts, has operated Everts Air Fuel, Inc, specializing in airlifting flammable and hazardous materials. In 1993, Everts Air became FAR Part 121 certified as Tatonduk Outfitters Limited bought Everts Air. This merger introduced larger aircraft like the Douglas-DC-6, which eventually divided the company into Everts Air Alaska and Everts Air Cargo.
After Northern Air Cargo abandoned regular service of the Douglas DC-6, Everts Air Cargo remains the last airline operating regular flights with a large fleet of the now 60-year-old piston-powered aircraft.
In 2015, Everts Air began operating a Boeing 727-227F for the first time for the Zero Gravity Corporation. The aircraft operates weightless flights and, unlike NASA, is governed under Part 121, allowing Everts Air to offer flights to tourists and researchers.
Everts Air Impact on Alaskan Aviation
Everts Air has enabled researchers and residents in remote areas of Alaska to receive crucial supplies in spite of being in areas not reachable by other means of transportation. Much like Rebel Services, LLC, Everts Air is still family-owned and operated after more than 40 years in business. The James family at Rebel Services was proud to provide Everts Air with a much-needed fabrication project, and we are ready to help you, too, with your fabrication needs.
