nfpa 407 compliance 2 1

What the NFPA 407 June Compliance Deadline Means to Your Airport

We’ve talked about why NFPA’s 407 automatic shutdown requirements are not necessary, but despite hard work by the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) the June deadline for compliance is looming. NATA has filed a Notice of Intent to Petition the NFPA Board of Directors as a final effort to seek relief for airports.

While we wait for that outcome, we’re working with multiple airports that without relief from NFPA will have to meet the compliance deadline.

Here’s what you need to know.

Who’s affected by NFPA 407:

Only airports and FBOs that have mobile refuelers are required to install the automatic “scully-type” shutdown systems.

What are your options:

  1. Go ahead and get a quote for installing automatic shutdown systems. (We can do that for you.)

  2. Follow the advice of NATA which is to work with your Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to request a modification to the retroactive component of the requirements. This would preclude existing equipment from the June 2nd deadline for compliance. NATA has prepared a form letter and letter of support for use by its members.

You can read the full release from NATA and access the form letter and letter of support here.
